Ian, Juniper and I have been in Florida with Ian’s family since last week. Unfortunately it has been a little chilly but Ian and I have still managed to get out for some great running and road riding.
After finding enough warm clothes in the suitcase, Ian and I enjoyed a great beach run the first morning we were here. I got to try out my new Newton Lady Isaacs on some perfect sand for running. Now that I’m at 8 months pregnant and Ian is getting much faster, I had to send him ahead for some hard pushes every mile or so. After about 4 miles of a strong headwind, we turned around for a negative split.
Taking advantage of a great opportunity, we decided to rent road bikes and ride for the next few days while Juniper got to hang out with her grandmother. Ian and I have spent the last four days enjoying two hour road rides together – this has definitely turned into a mini babymoon. I can’t tell you the last time Ian and I actually got to train together this many days in a week.
Despite my belly getting a little bigger, the bike has felt really good. Ian does all the pulling (especially with the strong and cold winds) while I sit in behind him riding comfortably. There are both nice bike lanes and a county long bike path so we have been changing up the scenery each day.
I’m looking forward to one last beach run tomorrow before we head home. Hopefully it will be over 40 degrees so baby and I don’t freeze on the beach.
