I spoke to Sari this morning and here’s the latest…
She was feeling a little better yesterday, but still really hurting on the running sections of the stage. Paddling and biking seemed to be a little easier on her stomach. The team finished the third and final stage in second place, despite Sari’s sickness and a little swim that Michael and Josiah had during one of the kayaking sections.
Team Nike finished in sixth place overall, moving up one place on the last day with their strong finish in the final stage. AdventureSport NZ won the race, Wilsa Helly Hansen finished in second and our friends from Team Nike/ Beaver Creek got third (Nice work guys!).
It was 10 at night in China when Sari called. She was getting ready to board the bus for the five hour ride to Chongqing, where they get on a flight to Beijing, to San Fran, to Denver, to Aspen…about 40 hours of travel overall.
Brutal.
Thanks again for everyone’s support! This was a tough one.
I was so sorry to hear that Sari got sick, but so impressed that the team still finished 6th. I know she will be glad to be home and Ian and Juniper will be glad to have her home. Brutal race, but Team Nike is still so great!
Way to finish strong! That’s very impressive that you finished 2nd in the last stage and 6th overall considering you were so sick. I’m sure you’ll be glad to return home and rest. Better luck at the next one! Talk to you soon. Love, Sarah
